Left of Peveril Castle is a spectacular gorge you can walk up (the path is sign-posted but starts out quite narrow between two houses). I went up there last winter one frosty afternoon just too late in the day to catch the sun on the castle and cliffs below. Further up the gorge by the 2nd stile is a small overhanging limestone cliff to the right from which you often get 2 or 3 foot icicles when it's cold enough. This is a close up of one showing the crystals within it, and a few others behind fading into the shadows. I converted it to black and white as there was not much colour there to begin with, and it also shows the ice composition better.
